Happy 2012! January has been filled with snow activities: snow songs, winter stories, snowmen, snowflakes and bird feeders. We are learning the Pledge of Allegiance to our Country’s flag. Our alphabet study is so exciting! We have completed letters ABCDEFGHIJK with projects to help us learn each letter and the sound it makes. We cut the actual upper and lower case letter which helps us with recognition. We taste the snack foods that make learning even more fun. Thank you parents for providing such treats as applesauce, brownies, carrots, donuts, éclairs, Fig Newtons, grapes, ice cream and ____. We have worked hard on writing our first and last names! Practice makes perfect! We made Stone Soup! Imagine that! And we have enjoyed music with Ms. Julie and Science with the Geistlers!
February promises to be lots of fun. We’ll talk about the groundhog, Presidents Washington and Lincoln, L-O-V-E and Valentines. We’ll even learn our telephone numbers! Please take a few minutes every day to help your child learn his or her telephone number. They will be so proud when they can say it and get their phone up on the board!
We look forward to our Valentine’s Day party on Tuesday, February 14. At that time we’ll exchange valentines with our classmates. On Tuesday, February 7, we will make our valentine bags in class. You may start sending in your child’s signed valentine cards at that time. Let your child sign his or her name to the back of each card. Put the cards in envelopes and leave the front blank. Send them to preschool and we will let your child distribute their cards into the valentine bags we made in class. What a great way to practice counting and name writing!
February’s alphabet snack assignments are:
- Feb. 3 L Layla
- Feb. 6 M Madelyn
- Feb. 10 N Brandon
- Feb. 17 O Grayson
- Feb. 27 P Peyton
- Feb. 28 Q Madelyn
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Love,
Mrs. Barnes & Mrs. Correa
